Mount Morris, NY - The Genesee Valley Council on the Arts (GVCA) is thrilled to announce that their organization has launched a new grant opportunity for Monroe and Livingston County, under the program entitled “Aid to Localities”. New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins led a special funding initiative to procure these funds for the enrichment of New York State’s Arts and Culture. GVCA is grateful to our elected representatives and state officials for their commitment to supporting artists and cultural programming in New York.

The Aid To Localities program will open applications on April 5th, with funding potential of up to $10,000 for artists and arts organizations in our communities. The funding administered by this program is separated into three different grants, listed below.

Organizational Growth Grants: The Organizational Growth Grant provides capacity and stabilization support to existing local arts and cultural organizations to sustain programs, projects, and operations. We understand that current grant funding opportunities within the arts may not fulfill your organization’s specific needs, this grant is intended to fill the gaps and provide operational support to facilitate growth in our local arts and cultural organizations. This grant was created to strengthen the foundation of organizations, provide flexible support to a broad range of operational needs, and give a financial boost to future organization stabilization and development.

Applicants must submit their applications by June 1, 2024.

Inspire Community Grants: The Inspire Community grant offers project support of $10,000 to community-based organizations, groups, collectives, or individual artists engaged in arts and cultural projects. This grant seeks to provide project-specific funding to increase the capacity of individual artists and nonprofit organizations who are creating programs that contribute to our communities through conscious engagement, artistic experience, and cultural development.

Applicants must submit their applications by June 1, 2024.

The Quick Action Fund: The Quick Action Material fund is awarded on a rolling monthly basis. Due to the rising cost of supplies, we have had an increased request from artists in our communities for funding that doesn’t require 3+ months of planning. If you are an artist with a project in the works but require additional funding, this grant offers up to $1,000 to cover expenses that may arise during the timeline of a project. This grant focuses mainly on visual or performing artists with projects close to completion with committed exhibition and/or performance dates. $10,000 in total funding will be released monthly: $3,000 will be dispersed to applicants in Livingston County, and $7,000 will be dispersed to applicants in Monroe County.

The first deadline for the Quick Action fund is July 1, 2024.
